Gelalahere! TV3 Cut #VGMAs2018 Transmission Because Of Nana Aba Anamoah ?
Whilst at the Accra International Conference Center on April 14 evening busily enjoying this year’s Ghana Music Awards, one top Ghanaian actress whose name I cannot mention questioned me if TV3 went off because Nana Aba Anamoah came on stage to present an award.
Well I was lost at what she was saying because I was not watching the event on TV to know what exactly happened so I threw the question to my followers on social media – Twitter and Facebook to explain to me what actually happened and per what they narrated, they believe TV3 intentionally cut the 2018 Ghana Music Awards transmission because their former employee had come on stage to present an award and they did not need her on their platform.
According to the social media commentators, the Media General-owned TV station played music videos when they went off whilst Miss Anamoah was on stage. Viewers who were glued to their TV sets enjoying the show further said they were given the chance to watch the program after Nana Aba Anamoah who is currently with EIB Network’s GhOne TV had left the stage after presenting her award.
A Facebook user by name Kwadwo Bonnah however gave a different reason. He revealed that the break was a fault but not thought out in advance. According to him “It wasn’t intentional from what I have been told. Tv3 normally goes off getting to midnight, so the technicians just had to change the port. It’s very unfortunate it happened when Nana Aba was on stage. Just a coincidence. My country pple!“.
Movie producer and director Peter Sedufia also disclosed that “Apparently, DSTV is their partner.
They didn’t want to give advertising airtime to Trace TV which is a competitor to DSTV, hence, a smart cut in transmission. Nothing to do with Nana Aba.“
We at Zionfelix.net cannot tell if TV3 indeed intentionally went off due to the news anchor’s presence on stage or it was a technical hitch since all efforts to reach top officials of the television station have proved futile.
Most social media commentators who talked about the break in transmission expressed gross disappointment in the official TV partner for the 19th edition of Ghana Music Awards.
Just after filing this report, we decided to check on Twitter to see what others are saying about Nana Aba Anamoah and lo and behold, we saw TV3 apologizing about the break in transmission blaming it on a technical problem.
The 2018 Ghana Music Awards hosted by John Dumelo and Berla Mundi witnessed great performances from musicians like Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Samini, Efya, MzVee, Kidi, King Promise, Adina, Kuami Eugene, Joe Mettle, Akosua Agyapong, Tiwa Savage, Nasty C and many others.
