Top football icons, both past and current active players, have backed the Frenchman to succeed Lionel Messi as this year's winner of the Ballon d'Or.

In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, hundreds of fans took to the streets to chant Benzema's name for this year's Ballon d'Or award.
